nesting tree

i.

humming cooes amplify
your hollows breathing

hovering

pigeon song breathes in
the air you once breathed out

a beating heart
nesting tree

with refined wrinkles
and silk spun amongst crevices
what have you seen?

wings clap on take-off
little heads poke out
from hollows little eyes spy

th’outside

nesting tree

sucked dry

deadwood corpse
no longer searches for sun in the canopy
nor do your brittle roots seek water

ii.

nesting tree

home to so many
I’ve only known you in your death
